Is There a Senior Resource Fair in Oklahoma City Where I Can Find Caregiving, Housing, and Benefits Help in One Place?

Yes. The Second Half Expo is our in-person gathering in Oklahoma City for adults roughly 40 and up and the families caring for aging parents. You can meet exhibitors, attend free seminars, explore community resources, and discover services that support adults in the second half of life, all in one visit.
Most families start looking after a specific moment: a parent falls, a Medicare letter arrives, or a call with a sibling ends with "we need a plan." Finding answers usually means a dozen separate phone calls. The Expo exists to shorten that list. We do not print a date, venue, or exhibitor lineup here because those details change from event to event. The current ones are always on the Second Half Expo page and the events calendar.
Who runs the Second Half Expo, and who is it for?
The Expo is the flagship in-person event of Second Half 365, a free community and resource platform that grew out of the Expo in Oklahoma City. It is launching across Oklahoma, with plans to expand nationwide. We built it for three groups:
- Adults in the second half of life planning their own next decade: health, money, housing, and staying active.
- Adult children looking for practical help for aging parents.
- Sandwich generation caregivers balancing kids, jobs, and a parent's care, who would rather talk with professionals face to face.
What kinds of help can I find at the Expo?
Everything we publish is organized into seven topic areas: purpose and community, financial planning, health and wellness, caregiving and family, technology, legal and advocacy, and lifestyle and living. Here is how the questions families bring us most often fit into those areas, and what to ask when you reach a booth.
Caregiving: ask about hours, cost, and who does what
Ask in-home care providers what their minimum visit length is, whether caregivers are employees or contractors, and how a missed shift is handled. Write the answers next to each provider's name so you can compare them later.
Housing: compare every option on the same terms
- What level of care is included in the base monthly fee, and what is billed separately?
- If care needs increase, do residents move units, or does care come to them?
- How much notice is required to move out, and what are the entrance or community fees?
- Is there a waitlist, and how long is it right now?
If staying home is the goal, ask home safety providers what they would change first in a typical bathroom and entryway, and what a basic assessment costs.
Medicare, finance, and legal: bring the paperwork
Financial and legal planning sit side by side because a benefits decision often touches a will, a power of attorney, or long-term care costs. Bring your plan card and prescription list so the answers you get are specific to you. Veterans and surviving spouses should bring discharge information and ask which benefits they may qualify for and who can help them file.
Health and technology: turn vague worries into specific questions
For health and wellness, write down the two or three topics that worry you most, such as managing a new diagnosis, staying active, or what a parent's changing habits might mean. Ask each provider to explain in plain language, then note anything you want to read about later in our health and wellness articles.
For technology, bring the phone or tablet that gives you trouble and ask for help with one task you want to do, whether that is video calls with family or keeping appointments organized. Technology is one of our seven topic areas because it touches every other decision on this list.
Are the seminars at the Second Half Expo free?
Yes. Our own posts describe free seminars alongside the exhibitor floor. A seminar lets you hear a topic explained once, in full, before you start asking individual providers about it. The seminar topics for each event are posted on the Expo page, so pick one or two ahead of time and plan your booth visits around them.
How should I plan my visit?
- Confirm the details. Check the date, location, and schedule on the Expo page before you go.
- Pick your top three needs. For example: in-home care, a Medicare question, and a home safety assessment. Visit those booths first.
- Bring a folder with a medication list, insurance cards, and any letters you do not understand.
- Bring a second person. One asks, the other takes notes.
- Ask every provider the same three questions: What does this cost? How soon can you start? What do you need from me to give an accurate answer?
